3) Passé Composé - to talk about an action in the past. To form the passé composé, we use 2 verbs. In the majority of cases we use the present tense of the verb "avoir" + the past participle (participe passé). e.g. Sabrina a perdu connaissance.
To form the past participle:
- of "er" verbs, we replace the "er" with "é": aimer - aimé
manger - mangé
marcher - marché
- of "ir" verbs, we replace the "ir" with "i": choisir - choisi
réussir - réussi
- of "re" verbs, we replace the "re" with "u": vendre - vendu
répondre - répondu
