French 8

1. la question du jour: Put the following nouns in the plural form.

a) le cheval
b) la voix
c) la tasse
d) le manteau
e) la fourchette
f) l'homme
g) la montagne

2. In French, when we speak about countries we use the prepositions le, la, l' or les in front of the country. Generally the names of countries that end in "e" are feminine: la France, la Suède. The other names of countries are masculine: le Canada, le Maroc.
Some countries have names that require a plural preposition: les Philippines, les États-Unis. When the name of a country begins with a vowel, we use l': l'Égypte. But be careful! There are exceptions to these rules: le Mexique, le Zimbabwe

The names of all the continents are feminine!

3. la rose des vents - the compass rose: le Nord, le Sud, l'Ouest, l'Est

4. cahier: pg. 4
